Could Vending Machines Take Budtender Jobs in Colorado?

Mid-February, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced the state’s first cannabis vending machine on social media. The fully automated machine operates legally inside a Terrapin Care Station dispensary in Aurora and can hold up to 1,152 marijuana products. Given the choice, which would you prefer? To buy cannabis from a budtender or from the machine? The cannabis-consuming public’s answer may determine if these machines pose a threat to dispensary jobs.

We’ll also hear about the advancement of a bill in the state legislature proposing an overhaul of Colorado’s marijuana social equity program. House Bill 23-1020 would add a handful of features to the state’s social equity program, which itself was created less than three years ago, including new preferential marijuana delivery opportunities and changes to Colorado’s social equity licensing requirements.

Finally, we’ll hear how a Denver mayoral candidate is decrying the use of the old Denver city jail to house confiscated marijuana instead of using the space to provide shelter for those who need it.
