When Sushi Came to Colorado

On Radio Nibbles, host John Lehndorff welcomed author Gil Asakawa who has just published “Tabemasho! Let’s Eat! The Tasty History of Japanese Food in America.” They discussed the rise of ramen in Colorado, Pelican Pete’s memories and the best thing Gil has tasted lately locally: Polynesian fare.
Also, check out Lehndorff’s comeback Nibbles column, Rx: Bread and Butter published today in Boulder Weekly. It’s about how real food, family, and friends brought him back to life after spinal fusion surgery. It’s a touching read.
