Longmont Museum Event Features Histories of Abolitionist Agitators

The Longmont Museum will be hosting an event this Sunday that examines one of the most important social justice movements in American history; that of the Underground Railroad and those who organized for the abolition of slavery.

Speakers at the event will include Dorothy Wickenden, longtime executive editor of the New Yorker and author of The Agitators: Three Friends Who Fought for Abolition and Women’s Rights. She recently stepped down from her role at the helm of the New Yorker after more than 25 years there.

The event will also feature Ashleigh Lawrence-Sanders, Assistant Professor African American History, CU Boulder.

News Director Shannon Young spoke with both women ahead of their event.
