This time on the Cannabis Report, marijuana reporter Leland Rucker digs into the details in HB 1317 — legislation passed during the most recent session that will bring about the biggest changes in the state’s marijuana law since cannabis was legalized in Colorado in 2012.
The goal of HB 1317 was to keep teens from getting and using high potency cannabis. Still, some are saying that the law, which would add new purchase limits, strengthen tracking of cannabis buys, and add new standards for doctor-patient relationships, will limit patient access and potentially drive some people back to pharmaceuticals. The new rules are being discussed currently and will be formally announced on Jan. 1st, 2022.
