Environmental activists gathered in Boulder Saturday in support of a statewide climate bill, SB 21-200. Gov. Jared Polis has stated he intends to veto the bill if it passes. The bill puts caps on greenhouse gas emissions and would give more teeth to air quality enforcement mechanisms. KGNU’s Rossana Longo brings us these voices from Saturday’s march.
Jeeva Senthilnathan from Future Coalition who is only 19 years old was one of the strongest organizers to make sure that Governor Jared Polis doesn’t veto SB-200.
Senthilnathan goes to the School of Mines pursuing mechanical engineering and said that Polis doesn’t understand the urgency because he does not have a degree in science and that he needs to understand that fracking companies are not ethical.
The event mobilized more than 300 climate action organizations that actively supported SB-200 that gathered near the main Public Library in Boulder. The rally then proceeded down Pearl Street.
