For May 2021 we’ve been reading The Next Everest by Colorado author Jim Davidson.
The book chronicles his attempts to summit the world’s tallest mountain.
His first summit attempt was thwarted by a natural disaster. On April 25, 2015, an earthquake released avalanches killing 18 people on Everest.
Davidson, a climber based in Fort Collins, returned to Everest in 2017 and finally achieved his dream of reaching the summit.
This interview was broadcast on KGNU on May 27th at 9am. Listen to more of Davidson’s interview in our podcast-only edition Afterhours at the Radio Bookclub, where he talks about how everyone can use the lessons he learned climbing Everest to tackle different challenges that life throws at us.

The Radio Bookclub is a collaboration between KGNU and the Boulder Bookstore. Every month, Arsen Kashkashian, head buyer at the Boulder Bookstore, selects a book to inspire listeners to read along together. The author will then join us in-studio for a discussion that airs the fourth Thursday of every month at 9am.
