Calls for Pueblo to Recognize Indigenous People’s Day

Today is Indigenous People’s Day but not all communities in Colorado celebrate that, instead they still celebrate Columbus Day, despite years of protest and discussion about why the change needs to happen.

Pueblo has seen numerous actions in recent weeks calling for the repeal of Columbus Day.

KGNU’s Elena Klaver was at Sunday’s action where hundreds of people gathered for a Four Directions March calling for Pueblo to recognize Indigenous People’s Day.

Boulder, Denver and Aspen have all passed resolutions recognizing October 12 as Indigenous People’s Day.
