“Secrets of the Universe And Other Songs”, a Surrealist Take on Historic Relationship Between Einstein and Marian Anderson, Now Playing at Aurora Fox

The Aurora Fox Arts Center in the heart of Aurora is unveiling a world premiere of a brand new play by acclaimed Broadway Playwright, Marc Acito on Friday February 22, 2020. “Secrets of the Universe And Other Songs” is the story about an unlikely friendship that blossomed between Albert Einstein and Opera Singer Marian Anderson after she gave a concert at Princeton University and was denied a hotel room because she was African American. Einstein heard about this injustice and offered her a spare bedroom in his home, and the two became fast friends.

Playwright Marc Acito has a special place in his heart for the Front Range, as he earned his degree at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. So when it came to developing “Secrets of the Universe and Other Songs,” The Aurora Fox was an ideal creative space, due to the location and Acito’s previous creative relationship with Director Helen R. Murray. Murray also serves as the Executive Producer of the Aurora Fox.

“Secrets of the Universe And Other Songs” will run weekends at the Aurora Fox Arts Center February 21st through March 15th. KGNU’s Veronica Straight-Lingo had a chance to speak to Marc Acito about this remarkable piece, and why this story deserves to be told on a stage.
