Boulder City Council Candidates: Orba, Dolan, Duran

There are 15 candidates seeking election to Boulder City Council in 2019. In this forum, moderated by Roz Brown, we hear from Gala Orba, Brian Dolan and Benita Duran.

l-r: Duran, Dolan, Orba

Gala Orba is a CU/Boulder graduate and owner of Earthbound Life Coaching. Her leadership goals include instituting a local ban on single-use plastic products, fostering the addition of more women and people of color into the business community and protecting the arts. Orba worked as a teacher for four years in public and private schools around Boulder teaching pre-algebra through calculus-level courses to middle schoolers up to college students.

Brian Dolan is a CU/Denver graduate with a degree in finance and accounting. He owns a small Boulder business importing and restoring classic cars. He is co-president for the Share-a-Gift program to ensure low-income families in the Boulder Valley School District receive holiday gifts; and is also a team lead for the regional National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He is a member of Think Boulder, a group supporting a community-centered development for Alpine-Balsam.

Benita Duran earned a degree in economics and public affairs from the University of Denver and a master’s in public administration from CU Boulder. Owner of an independent consulting business focused on redevelopment in the state’s urban cores, she has worked as an assistant Boulder city manager, and for CH2M Hill and the Denver Public Schools. She has served on the boards of multiple non-profits, and aims to bring more collaboration to the city’s housing-economic-environmental-transportation challenges.
