Impacts of low snowpack, drought on the Mountain West

Western Resource Advocates is tracking the impacts of the low snowpack , low streamflow and drought throughout the Mountain West on their website, compiling a diverse collection of maps and news for easy public access.

In addition to making the data accessible, Western Resource Advocates is working to reveal the big water scarcity picture.

KGNU’s Hannah Leigh Myers spoke with Bart Miller, Healthy Rivers Program Director at Western Resource Advocates, about the what he sees in the data and possible legal and political solutions to drought.

Miller also gave an update on where the Colorado River basin states stand in relation to the low reservoir levels that could trigger dramatic legal water allocation conflict in the future.
