Tish Beauford speaks with Olivia Gardner and Madison Rose from Never Again Colorado about their tour to our nation’s capital next month to continue to lobby for gun control reform with our nation’s legislators.
Olivia Gardner is a sophomore at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is double majoring in Ethnic Studies and Women and Gender Studies with a minor in Leadership. She is apart of the INVST Community Studies Program which is a two-year program designed to engage students in the theory and practice of social and environmental justice. She is moved to bring about effective change in a world that is rotating on a paradigm of injustice.
Madison Rose is currently a student of Criminology and Psychology at Regis University. A native of Littleton, Colorado, she has spent much of her life dedicated to art and entertainment, working on productions with companies like Universal, HBO, and Showtime. After discovering that her true passion lies with helping others, she decided to concentrate her educational career on mental health and crime prevention. In her newest endeavor as Vice President of Never Again Colorado, Madison is honored to work with the youth of her home state to prevent gun violence and advocate for public safety.”
“In April we hosted a town hall and invited Coffman and Gardner to meet with and talk to our student organizers. They failed to show up and listen to the concerned voices of their constituents, so Never Again – Colorado is sending six of our young student activists to the nation’s capitol to personally deliver our message directly to Coffman and Gardner. This trip is about getting our voices heard, but most importantly listening and learning so that we can ensure that this movement can live on until we see sensible change in our communities in regards to gun violence.”
This interview will broadcast on KGNU at 8.32am on Thursday June 28th. Tish Beauford hosts A Public Affair on the 4th Thursday of every month from 8.32-9am.
