KGNU’s Maeve Conran spoke with Susanne Stadlbauer, PhD. While in Germany over the Christmas holidays, Dr. Stadlbauer spoke with a number of Syrian refugees placed at a camp in her hometown of Straubing in east Bavaria. She shares refugees’ stories of their journey to Germany, conditions the refugees left in Syria, how social media has become a lifeline, and comments on attitudes towards the new refugees in Germany.
Susanne Stadlbauer is a researcher at the Center for Media, Religion, and Culture (CMRC) at CU Boulder and a board member of the Boulder County United Nations Association.
