Protestors interrupt Governor Hickenlooper Book Event

Anti-fracking protestors interrupted a book reading by Governor Hickenlooper in Boulder on Wednesday June 8th. The Governor was scheduled to speak about his new book at the First Congregational Church followed by an event at the Boulder Bookstore. The Governor was interrupted by protestors at the church, so event organizers changed the schedule around and the Governor went to the Boulder Bookstore and returned to the church an hour later, accompanied by 2 security guards and a police presence in the sanctuary. The Daily Camera reports that one female protestor was injured on her arm when another woman threw a cellphone at her. Both women were ticketed by the police and charged with physical harassment.

KGNU’s Jim Sawyer spoke to some of the protestors gathered outside the church about their concerns about Governor Hickenloopers support of fracking in the state.
