Hemispheres: Phyllis Bennis and Tom Hayden

Tom Hayden has been a peace, justice and environmental activist for over 50 years. He was one of the founders of Students for a Democratic Society, and was the principal author of the Port Huron Statement, the revolutionary SDS document. He served for 18 years in the California legislature. He is the founder and director of the Peace and Justice Resource Center in Culver City, California, and is the author and editor of twenty books.

Phyllis Bennis is the Director of the New Internationalism Project through the Institute for Policy Studies.
She is a journalist, activist, and political commentator, and has worked with the UN “on several issues related to Palestine and the Middle East” and as advising “several top UN officials on Middle East and UN democratization issues. She is the author of eight books and coeditor of two.
