June 6, 2014 was the last day for the public to comment to the Army Corps of Engineers on the final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed expansion of Gross Reservoir. Senator Michael Bennett and the Boulder County Commissioners have called for an extension of the 45 day public comment time saying the public need more time to read the 16,000 page EIS. We speak with Chris Garre of The Evironmental Group (TEG) who oppose the expansion. TEG says the project would cause irreversible damaging effects to our precious natural resources as well as devastate the Fraser and Upper Colorado Rivers, and cause numerous harms to the fish, people, and businesses that depend on healthy rivers. Denver Water says the expansion is necessary to provide water to the growing population on the Front Range.
Chris Garre produced a documentary on the reservoir expansion called No Water to Waste.
